What you need: serum creatinine from a standard blood panel, plus your age and sex.

Kidney Function (eGFR) Calculator

How to use this calculator

Enter your serum creatinine from a standard blood panel, plus your age and sex.

What your result means

This uses the 2021 CKD-EPI creatinine equation, the current race-free version recommended by the National Kidney Foundation and American Society of Nephrology joint task force. Kidney function naturally declines with age, and creatinine alone can look falsely normal in people with lower muscle mass (common in older adults) — eGFR corrects for age and sex to give a clearer picture, reported in stages from G1 (normal) to G5 (kidney failure).

What people say

"Explained why creatinine alone can look normal in older adults — useful context for my mother's results too."

— Ingrid S.

"Good to see the actual current CKD-EPI equation used, not an outdated race-based one."

— Tunde A.
